Steller Motorsport will arrive at Silverstone this weekend after a pair of very positive test sessions with their new, 2020 spec Audi R8 LMS.
The team opted to miss the last round at Snetterton to try to unlock even more performance from the new Audi after running with the leading pack at Donington Park earlier in the season.
Now, with testing complete, the #30 car joins an impressive line-up of cars, by far the biggest entry of the season, with 20 GT3 runners battling for honours in the three hour season finale, the Silverstone 500.
Steller Motorsport Technical Director Max Daymond said:
“With all of the challenges thrown at the sport this year by the COVID-19 pandemic there has been precious little opportunity to test , and that’s a particular disadvantage when you are bringing a new car to a well-established Championship with a grid of teams of the highest quality.
“We saw at Donington not only that we had real pace, but that there was more to come if we took the time to understand more about the car.
“We took the tough decision to miss Snetterton and instead take the car to Silverstone to learn more about the Audi R8 LMS GT3 and to do the deep-dive engineering that is needed to get the very best out of this astonishing car.
“The team and drivers all felt that we came away from testing in very good shape both in ultimate pace, and crucially in consistency, learning a lot about how to best use the Pirelli rubber.
“Whilst the driving rain at our first test didn’t feel like good news at the time, the fact that we tested in very mixed weather means that we feel ready for more or less anything this weekend.”
The #30 Steller Motorsport Audio R8 LMS will be driven once again by Sennan Fielding and Richard Williams and entered in the Silver Cup class of the premier GT3 category.
